Coos Baakman, CSBB master student MLW with specialism bioinformatics since October 2010

Research project: designing a way to better visualize microscopic data.

Coos will concentrate on the data handling and data-interoperability within the CSBB. This work will include helping the experimental scientists with data-conversions, data-handling, making backups, etc. Coos will also help the experimentalists with the scientific aspects of the data-handling. This includes thinking about ontologies, meta-data, data-validation, data vizualisation and integration.

He has actually finished his study as Molecular Life Sciences student, but as he wanted to further broaden his scope he decided to stay a student for one more year to follow classes in quantum chemistry, computer science, genomics, imaging, etc. Coos hopes that with these extra courses he will become yet even better suited for his role in the
CSBB: making the data interoperable.
